Certificate in Enrolled Nursing

Overview

The Certificate in Enrolled Nursing is a comprehensive entry-level nursing program designed to equip students with the essential knowledge, skills, and ethical grounding required to provide high-quality healthcare services. This program blends theory and practical training to prepare graduates for direct patient care in hospitals, health centers, and community-based healthcare settings.

Upon completion, graduates will be eligible for registration as Enrolled Nurses and can pursue further studies in nursing or related health sciences.


Program Duration

2.5 years (5 semesters)
Including supervised clinical practice in accredited health facilities.

  • Human Anatomy & Physiology

  • Medical-Surgical Nursing

  • Maternal & Child Health

  • Pharmacology

  • Community Health Nursing

  • Nutrition and Dietetics

  • Mental Health Nursing

  • Health Education & Communication Skills

  • Professional Ethics & Legal Aspects in Nursing

  • Clinical Practicum


Minimum Entry Requirements

Applicants must have completed any of the following:

Ugandan Certificate of Education (UCE)

  • At least five (5) passes including:

    • English Language

    • Mathematics

    • Biology

    • Chemistry

    • Physics

OR A-level Certificate

  • One principal pass in Biology and a subsidiary in any science subject.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old at the time of application.

  • A valid national ID or passport.

  • Must pass the institution’s entry interview or aptitude test (if applicable).

  • A recommendation letter from a recognized authority (e.g. LC or religious leader) may be required.

Progression Path

  • Or pursue a Bachelor of Nursing Science after bridging.
